What is split tunneling?
If you're using our Android app, you'll be happy to know that we offer a powerful feature called split tunneling. This feature allows you to use the VPN connection with only certain apps, reducing the hassle of manually turning it on and off.
With split tunneling, you can choose which apps use the VPN connection and which do not. For example, you might want to turn on VPN with Instagram, while still allowing your YouTube app to use your regular internet connection. Thanks to split tunneling, you can easily achieve this level of control and customization.
To turn split tunneling on, follow these simple steps:
- Open ForestVPN, then tap on Mode in the bottom menu bar.
- In Additional settings, tap on Split tunneling.
- Pick Use for all selected apps and choose apps you want VPN to work with.
- Tap Save and you’re done!
Note: If you have an IOS/Apple device, you can learn how to set up a similar automation in our Shortcuts section.
